Is Dumbledore a Villain? Absolutely. Rachel, January 21, 2025March 5, 2025 Harry Potter Written by: J.K. Rowling Genre: Fantasy ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rating: 4 out of 5. “Till now there’s been no magic for Harry Potter. He lives with the miserable Dursley’s at number four, privet drive. His room is the cupboard under the stairs, and he hasn’t had a birthday party in eleven years. But then a mysterious letter arrives by owl messenger: a letter with an invitation to an incredible place called Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. And there he finds not only friends, flying sports on broomsticks, and magic in everything from classes to meals, but a great destiny that’s been waiting for him… if Harry can survive the encounter.“ Hear me out… Dumbledore is a VILLIAN! And honestly I don’t think there’s much that could change my mind. Listen I get that everything he did was “for the benefit of the world” or whatever but he definitely could have done it differently and in a way as to not raise Harry as a pig to be slaughtered. Now I understand that hindsight is 20/20 and maybe if he could go back and do things differently he would, but he didn’t so here’s why I think Dumbledore was a villian. I think Dumbledore should’ve started training Harry personally far before book 6 when he had Snape teach him occlumency. Dumbledore knew from BOOK ONE that Harry was going to be facing Voldemort far sooner than expected and he still just left him in the dark to the very end. And the fact that he had Snape teaching him when he KNEW about how much Snape and Harry hated each other was a catastrophe waiting to happen, I’m surprised one of them didn’t end up dead! And don’t even get me started on Snape, that man is the bane of my existence. Dumbledore was not trusting enough of those in his inner circle, if he had included Mcgonagall in this plan she could have talked some sense into him or at least made sure that Harry was adequately prepared to face Voldemort and die when the time came. And honestly what other evidence do you need than Snape himself being shocked and appalled to find out that Dumbledore had been “raising him like a pig for slaughter” so that he could “die at the right moment.” Now I get that they were in the middle of a war but that seems completely unnecessary for a boy who was already willing to do anything to protect those he loved. Look, I love the Harry Potter series and would recommend it to everyone I ever meet, buuuuuuuut overall I think Dumbledore did a TERRIBLE job of guiding and preparing Harry for the future he knew Harry would one day face. He could have worked with Harry in a much more one on one manner to prepare him for what would happen, I think that especially as Harry got older he would have understood the need to die so that Voldemort would also die. Keeping him the dark as a younger child makes sense but continuing to do so was a mistake. I think Dumbledore played just as much a part in Harry’s suffering as anyone else. But enough from me, what do you think??? Share this:FacebookThreadsPinterestLike this:Like Loading... Blog Fantasy DumbledoreHarry PotterPotterheads
